This Mayor Forgot to Close the BDSM Tabs on His Computer

The Old "Looking at BDSM for Research" Excuse

We’ve all had technical mistakes at work, from hitting the REPLY ALL button by accident or working on a document for hours only to have the program crash without saving a single thing. But the mayor of Quickborn, Germany made a pretty damn bad mistake when he posted picture of his web browser, which included tabs for BDSM porn.  

Now, I know what you are thinking: “Why in the hell would someone post a picture of their web browser?” For that, I have no answer. It seems that Mayor Thomas Koppl thought it would be a good idea, but it turns out he maybe should have closed some tabs first.     

"Mayor Thomas Köppl posted a picture of the German Constitution to back up points he was making in a debate about the Alternative for Germany party (AfD), which is anti-Euro and immigration. He wrote: 'The AfD isn't a party just like the others any longer. After pushing [party founder Bernd] Lucke and his democratic friends, this party no longer stands on the foundation of our Constitution.' But the screenshot also revealed other tabs on his browser, pages entitled 'Punishment Porn Videos', 'BDSM porno videos', and 'German slut punished', Bild reported on Friday. People commenting on the story were quick to point out the BDSM pornography pages, which also included one saying 'HAMSTERS Gratis porn'."  

Of course Mayor Thomas Köppl said it wasn’t him, then deleted the picture, and then finally came out and said it was him, but that he was looking at all the BDSM for research. Yeah . . . research for your pants.     

"Köppl claims he first heard about it when overhearing a conversation on a ski lift in South Tyrol, where he is currently on holiday, and was simply researching it. 'I wasn't so up to date about that, which annoys me. They were mentioning the site 'Xhamster', and when I got to my room I wanted to get clued-up. He claims his internet connection was too slow to watch any of the videos and he ended up reading a Wikipedia page on Fifty Shade Of Grey, the racy EL James novel, to find out about BDSM. But he claims the fetish is not for him, adding: 'I'm sure people who like it can have a lot of fun with BDSM. I find it rather disturbing. I have a problem with violence in general.'"  

I guess now Mayor Thomas Köppl can’t punish any of his staff for looking at porn on the taxpayers dime. Also, Mayor Thomas Köppl, if you want to do research and learn more about BDSM, don’t look at the Fifty Shades of Grey Wikipedia page—find something about real BDSM. There's plenty out there.

Did anyone think that Mayor Thomas Köppl does this on purpose? That maybe he was being a bad boy? Maybe he needs to be punished?
