Get Informed on the History of Twerking!
A new documentary titled "Twerkumentary" debuted recently at The Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles. It is directed by Italian American director Spaghetto and is all about the history and cultural context of the dance, how is it/is not accepted in popular culture and it definitely has an element of celebration of it because it's about that lovely rump-shaking dance sensation that has swept our nation.
The music in this is pretty amazing with George Clinton, Big Freedia (fuck, I adore Big Freedia), Diplo, Kreayshawn, E-40, Ham On Everything, Khia, Mike G (Odd Future), Too Short, and DJ Jubilee. An Indiegogo campaign was held to finance the production which is awesome, and hell, who does not think that a movie about twerking would be interesting or at the very least visually engaging? Twerking is a completely awesome dance and a great medium to get into one's sense of personal expression. It is also completely awesome watching all that ass shake around.
You can keep up with the doings of this fine film by following it on Twitter to see when "Twerkumentary" will be playing in your town or on Netflix/Hulu/Amazon and whatnot.
