No Body Doubles This Time . . . Hopefully
The term “dream team” gets tossed around a lot and it doesn’t always mean the team is really a dream - more like an OK idea. Other than the 1992 USA Men’s Basketball team and the cast of The Three Amigos, I can’t really think of any other time when “dream team” really described a team. That is, until today when I heard Ellen Page and Kate Mara are going to play lovers in a new movie. That my friends is a wonderful dream team.
The film, entitled Mercy, is scheduled for release sometime in 2017, which is way too long if you ask me.
Page is portraying Lucy, the daughter of a man on death row falling in love with Mara’s Mercy character, a woman on the opposing side of her family’s political cause. As a result, Lucy’s value for truth is tested as her world begins to unravel.
Ellen Page actually announced this project awhile, but I don’t believe there were many other people attached at that point.
Page first revealed the then-untitled project last year during a news conference at the Zurich Film Festival, where Freeheld was screening, saying, “I’m focusing mostly on stories that are meaningful to me and stories for women and supporting more gay characters.”
So, I’m going to go head and movie Mercy to the top of my “Must See in 2017” movie list. While I’m sure the movie will be fantastic I think I speak for everyone when I say hopefully this time around Kate Mara won’t feel the need to use a body double.
