Help Support This Animated Movie About Chronic Vag Pain!

Independent director Shelby Hadden is Kickstarting an animated short that she would like to make about her struggle with chronic pelvic pain, AKA vaginismus. Veginismus can cause a woman to feel a terrible amount of pain when she tries to insert a tampon, a finger, a sex toy or a guy's penis because her muscles squeeze or spasm when insertion happens. It can lead to a woman not wanting to have sexual contact because of the fear of the pain and/or the embarrassment of having the condition. It can also make a woman skip important health screenings for fear of the pain of an exam.

There's no real known cause for this condition and it can manifest itself for the same woman in some situations but not others (i.e. her man's penis is A-OK but a vibrator or dildo just doesn't fly). Kegel exercises and Kegel toys and/or fingers used slowly with lube can help treat the problem but more women needs to know that they are not along in experiencing this too-rarely discussed condition.
