You Gotta Wonder What the Smell Must Be Like

In my column Only in Florida, I'll be taking you down to the Sunshine State for the latest and greatest sex stories that can only be found in the craziest state in the union.

Well, my friends, it is a sad day in Florida. Yes, a day that will go down as one of the biggest tragedies ever to happen to Florida. The unthinkable, the unimaginable, the unbelievable has happened...The Sausage Castle has burnt down.

What's the Sausage Castle, you ask? Well, that would be the party house run by none other than Gary Busey's nephew, Mike Busey. According to Bryan Soderlind's blog (which contains some interesting pictures) The Sausage Castle is "part Peter Pan, part PT Barnum, and part early 2000s MTV." Now, doesn't that sound like a place to take a family on vacation? Well, I guess I should have said it would have been nice to take a family on a vacation (too soon?). Featured on Vice, it was once considered the "Wildest House in America" and it has been vacant for the last six months when on the night January 6th, firefighters were called to the scene. While they were able to contain the fire, the Sausage Castle is a total loss.

While no one was injured in the fire, all the hot tubs, dildos, stripper poles, and I assume hundreds of used condoms and hot pocket wraps were destroyed.

I guess the house and Mr. Busey had been having some trouble as of late. Yes, it would seem that Osceola County wasn't a fan of the sex parties, the shooting of guns, and all the strippers and had been trying to shut down The Sausage Castle for months.

The home had been vacant for the past six months, following an onslaught of fines from the county regarding code violations dating back to 2009. Back in February 2016, Osceola County spokesperson Mark Pino said resident Mike Busey and the owners of the property were responsible for over $1 million in unpaid fines, of which Busey was directly responsible for $340,000.

It doesn't appear that anyone has reached Mr. Busey for comment, and I have no doubt he is still partying on somewhere. And isn't that the real magic of The Sausage? Buildings burn, but a Mike Busey party lives on in the hearts of all of us.
