How did you meet Courtney Trouble and what do you like most about working with her?

"I became familiar with Courtney’s work when we were both showing films at a festival in Berlin. I loved how artsy and dreamy some of her work was, and that she didn’t take herself too seriously. I spoke on a panel that year and she responded positively to some of the things I said. Years later, we finally worked together as talent for her company. She’s really fun to work with and will do whatever it takes to make the scene good."

What do you think that being with Trouble Films will do for your work?

"It will bring my content to a new and different audience. My work was shot for a straight male audience but in many cases it didn’t resonate; it was too artsy or too moody for them to get off to it. I feel like these types of details are more appreciated and eroticized by women."

You are quite a veteran in the world of fetish porn. What has changed the most in your time in front of and behind the camera?

"Sadly, the rates for performers and content sales have gone way down while the expectations have gone way up. When I started doing fetish, many sites were totally against nudity. That’s part of what drew me to it. Naked people bore me. Half naked or even clothed people doing scandalous things tells a much more interesting story… I used to shoot features and have a whole crew on set. Now much of my stuff is shot on a tripod that I move around and it’s just individual clips/scenes. For me, it’s lost a lot of the glamour. You can’t build a story, get to know the characters and what they’re thinking much less have a character arc in a 6 to 8 min clip."

What do you think that a lot of people get wrong about their fetish play in general?

"With regards to femdom, men seem to suddenly think their dicks matter, when their sexual pleasure is a non-entity. I come from old school Domination. With all this fetish porn where one minute the 'domme' is kicking the guy in the balls, then on her knees sucking his dick the next minute, it’s polluted the minds of men. That is NOT real femdom, it’s porn, and people are confused about where the line is drawn. Of course, for some people the line is drawn in different places, but in regards to my training, the way BDSM is now being depicted is sacrilegious."

What fulfills you most about making fetish porn?

"When there’s a real connection between players and one forgets that there is a camera rolling."

What do you think are "must-have" DVDs of yours?

“'Audition', which was named one of the best porns of 2007 by Eros Magazine and was also nominated by XBiz & AVN… It’s intense. Whenever I have shown it at film festivals, people always have very strong reactions to it."

What kind of movies do you want to make as a director overall these days? Is the plan to stick with your fetish work or do you have other plans?

"I don’t make movies anymore. Without DVD distribution, there’s no point really. I’m not willing to water down my content in order to get new distribution, so I’m just doing clips like everyone else…"

What can fans expect to see from you this year?

"I’ll be teaching bondage classes in Miami later this month. In general, I’m scaling back on travel, most likely limiting it to NYC and LA later in the year. I’m enjoying being home, spending time with my animals, having a garden….When the mood strikes and I want to beat someone, I travel. :)"
