Are You in Need of a Really Old Ivory Dildo?

This Antique Dildo Is Up for Auction

The Irish Times has shared this image of an “Antique Carved Ivory Ladies Companion in Scarlet Lined Leather Upholstered Carry Box with Inset Bevelled Glass Panel” that is up for auction along with a bunch of other antiques on Saturday. 

Yep, that is one old dildo.

“A family member found it in a drawer, and he put it in the auction for fun really. We believe the ivory dates back to the 1840s. This fellow, the original owner, was in India in the 1840s, where he shot himself an elephant, and brought the tusk home," auctioneer Damien Matthews said of the ornate toy.

It's really beautiful with a heart carved into the base and a small compartment in it intended for a lock of the lady's true love's hair, but I personally can't get behind the fact that some poor elephant had to die to make this thing. The box is totally gorgeous, though and I love that this was probably a gift from a man who wanted his wife to get off a ton while he was away.
