As with "Chemistry," Tristan builds "Rough Sex" around the desires of her performers. Each of the five scenes is directly based on the rough sex fantasy of its female star; the male co-stars were also chosen by stars themselves, not a casting director. It's a nice touch: knowing that the performers are acting out their secret (or not-so-secret) desires with someone they enjoy working with adds an extra oomph to the scenes.

And the scenes themselves are pretty hot as it is (at least if you're into rough sex). Of the five, Satine Phoenix's scene with Derrick Pierce is easily our favorite. The most elaborate of all the scenes, "Stranded" finds Satine, ahem, stranded in the desert with a broken down car and no cell reception. She's discovered by Derrick, who offers her his cell, and some company, but starts to turn forceful once he realizes there's no one around to stop him from taking what he wants. Both Satine and Derrick are practiced rough players, and their chemistry is quite good—it also helps that they manage to stay in character (and, okay, maybe Satine's fantasy is our fantasy too).

But Satine is not alone in turning in a standout performance. Marie Luv and Julius Ceazher turn up the heat, acting out Marie's fantasy of getting caught cheating; Francesca Le (the film's sole femdom) makes hard working husband Christian take a break from the office and focus on his real boss; and Adrianna Nicole succumbs to the desires of intruder Marco Banderas.

And, of course, there's Sasha Grey. The final scene in the collection, Sasha's encounter with Danny Wylde is the least scripted, and seemingly the least fantasy-based (unless Sasha sits around fantasizing about negotiating with her partners and then having rough sex on a pool table). It's also the most real feeling: we can actually imagine that this is how Sasha has sex in real life. An initial discussion of likes and dislikes segues into very playful rough sex, with Danny and Sasha switching back and forth between domme and sub. There's no fancy set up or story line, but it doesn't matter: real, hot sex is really all we need.

Tristan Taormino has long been our go-to director for real hot porn exploring pornstars' real desires; it now seems that she'll similarly be our go-to director for real hot rough sex. A second volume of "Rough Sex" is already in the works; it should go without saying that we're counting down the days to its release.

Amazingly, that toy debuted a full decade ago: and to commemorate it (and Tristan's) accomplishments, an updated, tenth anniversary edition has been released. Yes, I had to get my hands (er, butt?) on it as soon as possible.

You may be wondering how one "updates" a classic plug like the Tristan. Clearly, altering the amazing design makes little to no sense—but beefing the plug up is an excellent idea indeed. As shown in the image at left, the Tristan Anniversary Plug (left) is a little bit fatter than its predecessor (though not as big as the T2, which I'm sad to say I do not own).

But is bigger better? Well, as in all things, it really depends on what you're going for. The anniversary plug is certainly a more advanced toy than its skinny friend—it took me quite a bit more warmup, and a whole lot of lube, to nudge the head of the toy into my anal area. But it was certainly worth it: once inside, the anniversary plug felt awesome. A-W-E-S-O-M-E. All the delicate curves of the original, but way beefed up.

Not that I'd expect anything less from an anal expert like Tristan.

In many ways, Penny Flame's take on the "Expert Guide" series really is the best of both worlds: Penny is an eager (and adorable!) teacher, and her warm and funny screen presence and hands-on demonstrations add a lot to the experience. There's certainly something to be said for a teacher who's willing to show as well as tell, if you know what we mean.

As with all of Tristan's Vivid-Ed releases, "Expert Guide to Hand Jobs" features some extremely hot sex scenes that demonstrate just how sexy hands can be (and how proper hand play can help pave the way for other forms of sexy stimulation, too). If you're in a learning mood, watch the scenes with instruction — Penny's voiceovers guide you through different techniques, while Penny Pop-Ups (a Penny-fied take on the trademark Vivid-Ed pop-ups) wander onscreen to offer specific tips and tricks. Already learned your lesson? Watch the scenes without instruction — they're hot enough to stand on their own, too.

While many of the Penny-fied touches are endearing and adorable, at times there's just a little too much cutesy humor. The feature opens with a faux infomercial advertising Penny's skills (complete with co-star testimonials); while funny, it's also a bit over the top and feels unnecessary — especially as the joke is repeated several times throughout the feature.Though the Penny Flame humor certainly livens things up, in excess it's ultimately more distracting than entertaining, and detracts from an otherwise excellent piece of eduporn.

"Penny Flame's Expert Guide" series certainly shows promise, and we have high hopes for future releases (especially the one about rough sex!). We just hope that in her future releases she's able to tone the cutesy jokes down just a smidge and let her natural charm, educational skills, and the hot, hot sex scenes carry the film on their own.

While hot porn that also educates may be Tristan's signature style, it seems it's not the hallmark of all Vivid-Ed releases. Though there's a lot of good about this release, it falls a little flat when it comes to sheer hotness—ultimately registering as a little more ed than sexy. The performers are hot, and the information is good, but unlike Tristan's previous Expert Guides to blowjobs or anal sex it never quite feels like the kind of educational porn flick you'd want to jack off to. As the information rolls by, there's too much to absorb and take in; it's a little hard to just lie back and get into it when so much is being thrown at you.

But if you're more interested in a video that will guide you through various positions than some hot porn that will happen to teach you a little something along the way, then "Positions" may just be what you're looking for. With short scenes on 18 different positions, and detailed information about the benefits and shortcomings of each, "Positions" leaves no stone untouched. Have a long, thin penis, or a partner who likes shallow penetration? Try the Pancake. Want a girl-on-top position that's easy on the knees? Go with the Froggie.

Though this release wasn't quite what we'd hoped for, we're still happy to see Vivid-Ed working hard to make sex education sexy, or at least provide some helpful information through porn. For a lot of people, porn is already an important (if not their only) source of sex education, so it's good to know that Vivid-Ed is making sure they get some solid information along with their titillation. Now if they'd just put out the "Expert Guide To Gape Rimming," we'd be totally set.

Well, for starters, declaring it to be "The Orgy Edition" certainly doesn't hurt. Nor does kicking off the action with some poolside lovin'. Long before Tristan's even had a chance to explain the house rules, Penny Flame and Evan Stone are already getting to know each other better. In our book, that's a pretty promising beginning ...

And even after the action moves inside, "Chemistry 4" continues to deliver. As you might expect, there's a lot of group sex in this flick: over the course of several hours, the cast breaks apart and recombines into twosomes, threesomes, foursomes, and, yes, orgies (sorry, we have a house ban on the word "moresome"). And just how hot do things get? Check out the following clip:

Overall, "Chemistry 4" is a steamy selection of cinema, but it's certainly not without its flaws. Though most of the porn star confessionals help heighten the movie's intensity, there are a few that take away from the experience. Sometimes, actions are just louder than words, particularly when you're in the middle of watching a seriously hot fuck session.

But overall, Tristan Taormino has proved time and time again that she has a knack for getting hot performances from hot performers—and "Chemistry 4" doesn't disappoint. We're already looking forward to "Chemistry 5", and we can't give the series a higher compliment than that.
