Well, we're not sure—but apparently there are people who are. Specifically, people who read The Daily Beast—the site just released the results of their Valentine's Day survey, unveiling this depressing and completely unromantic statistic.

So what do you think: is this phenomenon limited to the Daily Beast demographic, or are you affected by the sex recession (sexcession?) as well? If this trend starts to spread across the nation—well, it's a good thing we have that stockpile of porn.

While the average American BMI has increased over the years, the average Playmate BMI has actually decreased—except in the bust area, which has remained in the voluptuous C/D cup range. Has Playboy been hard at work in their labs, scientifically crafting the perfect Playmate? Or are they just magically good at finding tiny girls with huge boobs?

And does this mean that Gianna Michaels will never get to be in Playboy?

And, in a way, it did—though probably not in the manner most would expect. Momentarily departing from topics like the war, the economy, and the environment, the Times took on the most challenging topic of them all: "What Do Women Want?"

Setting aside the admittedly cheesy title, we have to admit we were surprisingly impressed with the article. For one thing, seeing the paper of record give so much attention to the science of naughty bits was a bit of a shock—a pleasant shock, but a shock nonetheless. Additionally, we were pleased to see said paper recognize nice that the science of sex is, yes, science.

But even more than that, we were excited by the fact that—after repeatedly hearing about some scientific study proving that women are turned on by everything—someone was finally willing to explain Meredith Chivers' work to us; in greater depth than just "Women: they want it all the time."

And for that alone, we'd like to commend the Times. Well, for that and for introducing us to some really fascinating sexology studies that we're eager to learn more about.

New research from the Ivy League medical college has shown that having a fat ass and hips can actually protect women from certain diseases. Fat-bottom girls have a lower risk of Type II Diabetes and high blood pressure, but the pear-shape here is key. Women who carry, proportionally, most of their fat in their midsections are more likely to develop diabetes and heart disease. Scientists suspect that these may be two different kinds of fat, and further research is needed.

In the meantime, we will follow the advice of Doctor Mix-a-Lot and "shake that healthy butt."
