The sports world was shocked last week to learn that a young, attractive, obscenely wealthy, and ridiculously talented professional athlete might possibly be dating a stripper. (He's also married to a non-stripper, which we guess is the shocking part.) Normally, the late night shenanigans of New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez would be left to those who actually care are better qualified to discuss such things, but something about this story managed to catch our eye. It must have been the nude pictures of A-Rod's (hee-hee ... "rod") alleged paramour, Joslyn Morse, that were dug up from her stint in Playboy back in 2001. Now we're interested! We don't really have anything to add to the story, other than the observation that these photo lend credence to the rumor that the slugger likes the "muscular" type. In what can only be described as a cheap and tawdry stunt completely unworthy of the dignified world of corporate advertising, British skin care company Elave is using nude spokespeople to push its latest brand of "cleansers" and "moisturizers". The new campaign, cheekily titled "Nothing To Hide", features a website and commercial starring a totally naked pitchwoman who tries to convince customers of the alleged purity of their products. That any marketing executive would stoop to crass tricks like full-frontal nudity (male and female, even!) and dirty puns just to sell some face wash is a deplorable spectacle and we're sure that the rest of their more respectable peers in advertising community will take them to task, perhaps even shunning them for besmirching the respectability of their profession. Plus, we only have basic cable so we'll probably never get to see these ads on TV. Now we're really outraged.

What is the deal with beauty pageant contestants and the scandalous pasts that always seem to come back and haunt them? For the second-year in a row, the leading candidate for the Miss Australia title has been booted because of some topless photos that appeared in a men's magazine. Topless being a relative term, apparently, since while Perth's own Carly Hanson is definitely not wearing a top in this Ralph magazine spread, all the naughty bits have been cleverly covered by gold leaf. Hardly shocking, but enough to get her disqualified. So if you're keeping score at home, that's two Miss Australias, a Miss Great Britain, a Miss USA, a Miss Nevada, and a Miss France "disgraced" in the last two years ... and those are just the ones we know about. The irony, of course, is that if any of them has stayed on the straight and narrow and actually won the Miss Universe title they were gunning for, they would have remained completely anonymous to us and most of the world. Is that what they mean by a moral (amoral?) victory?

The New York legal community is abuzz this week over the tale of Adriana Dominguez, a third-year student at Brooklyn Law School who shockingly stars in a nude video that's buzzing around the servers of that august institution. Back in January, Adriana modeled for photographer Andrew Einhorn and appeared on the show Naked Happy Girls—which no one saw at the time, because it aired on Playboy TV. However, once a clip from the show made its way online lawyers all over the city began billing their clients $400 an hour to email it to all their friends. Apparently it's all very scandalous and horrifying, because every single person associated with our nation's legal profession is a morally upright citizen incapable of thinking impure thoughts—and would certainly get no joy out of watching a naked law student get spanked. (Right?) Still, we hope some ambulance chaser will open up his cold, black heart and give her a job someday anyway. Joe Francis could probably use the help.
