Berlin's Venus Fair, scheduled this year for the weekend of October 18-21, is a rollicking affair, inasmuch as sophisticated Europeans allow themselves to rollick. A trade show like the ones we cover in these virtual pages, the Venus Fair nevertheless makes stateside porn conventions look tame, even as the on-hand talent, what with their advanced degrees in engineering and sex positivism, somehow prove less accessible than our homegrown stars,

Private, the world's biggest porn company, and PurePlay, its U.S. distributor, will fly two lucky guests to Berlin to attend the Fair with 500 Euros to play with. Winners will also receive backpacks to stuff with lederhosen and "Heroes"-period Bowie records. - GP

From our Bureau of Sex Events We Didn't Get To Attend (which seems to be awfully busy lately) comes this photoessay of pics from this year's Erotic Expo in Paris, in which over 30,000 visitors had yet another opportunity to check out the latest European developments in stripper footwear, sex furniture, love dolls, and live girl-on-girl onstage action. (You know, all the things we got to see for ourselves in Las Vegas back in January ... but, like, in French, which of course automatically makes them plus sexy.) As evocative as the photos are, they don't tell us whether or not there exists a Gallic equivalent of shoulder stink at these types of events on the other side of the pond. But maybe that's just as well.

Although we definitely could have used another "business trip" this past weekend to get away from the porn blogging grind for a while (somehow sitting here in our underwear watching MTV's Sping Break coverage just hasn't been cutting it), we're sad to say that a restrictive Gawker Media expense policy other personal obligations precluded us from attending this year's Exxxotica Miami expo this past weekend, which means we missed yet another opportunity to hang out with a bunch of hot strippers and pornstars while getting paid to do so. Happily, Daily Tang's ace correspondent Veronika Raquel was there to cover all the latest developments in body painting, cage dancing, and advanced stripper technology, and thanks to her exemplary reporting we almost feel like we were actually surrounded by all those gyrating implants and Lucite stack platform heels. (Still, we might have to go out tonight and put a few lap dances on our corporate AmEx just to be safe. It's our job to keep on top of these things, you know.)
