We found out a little bit about what it's like to be Sasha Grey, Porn Director—and what her plans for Grey Art entail.

<![CDATA[Sasha Grey's Directorial Debut: In Stores This September!]]> Been eagerly awaiting Sasha Grey's directorial debut? So have we. "The Birthday Party," a vignette co-directed with Oren Cohen of "Assraelis" fame) and released by New Sensations/Digital Sin, will be in stores on September 3. Mark your calendars!

(Oh, and if you're wondering what happened to "The Fuck Junkie"—we were, too!—we hear that it's scheduled to release later this year. Which is quite a relief!)

<![CDATA[Sasha Grey: Pornstar, Actress, Musician, Model... And Producer/Director]]> Well, add another feather to Sasha Grey's cap: America's Favorite Fuck Junkie and Oren Cohen have teamed up to launch their very own adult film production company, Grey Art.

Their first release, The Fuck Junkie, will release domestically this summer. In addition to being Grey Art's inaugural production, it's also Sasha's directorial debut (and given that Sasha is, ahem, America's Favorite Fuck Junkie, we can only imagine that she'll be the film's star as well).

We're thrilled to see Sasha expanding her influence to other aspects of adult production. It goes without saying that we've loved seeing what she can do on camera—we can't wait to see how she reinvents and reshapes adult entertainment from behind the camera, as well.

<![CDATA[For someone who began her career in the adult...]]> For someone who began her career in the adult industry with a porn movie called "Nietzsche Bangers", you'd think that directrix Vena Virago would have a more highfalutin take on the intersection of high art and low culture. But then, Vena Virago isn't your average porn directrix: "Porn is porn. Art is art. This is porn." Isn't it nice to see an artist making porn who appreciates the simple appeal of watching people fuck? (interview @ hustlerworld.com)

<![CDATA[ We're sure director Michael Ninn deserved...]]> We're sure director Michael Ninn deserved a break after completing the yet-to-be-released (and massively hyped) porn opus "The Four", but now that he's announced he's going on an "open-ended hiatus" what are fans of his signature brand of gauzy high-end hardcore erotica to do? Not to worry; we're sure someone will step in with their own arsenal of soft-focus lenses and slow-motion editing techniques to fill the gap. Porn abhors a vacuum, you know. <![CDATA[Sexy Conversations With Zalman King]]> DCypher reports: Back when "high priest of erotic filmmaking" Zalman King was busy turning David Duchovny from a forgettable off-Broadway Guildenstern into a bona fide sex symbol in "The Red Shoe Diaries", I was on the cusp of falling headlong into the tumultuous and unavoidable terrors of puberty. And by the time he let Mickey Rourke and the sizzling hot Carré Otis (who can forget those lips?) actually fuck on set in Brazil during the filming of "Wild Orchid", my imagination was running wild with the thought of marrying hardcore sex with real Hollywood stories. Sadly, much of this did not translate to the reality of ninth grade and I had to store away these vital lessons for (much) later use. But Zalman's influence on a whole generation of pornographers was significant.

Over the last several years, I'd forgotten the idol of my hormonal teen years and the influence he once had. But now, thanks to Hugh Hefner's all-sex channel I am reminded of my oh-so-humble roots: "Zalman King's Conversations with Women I Know About Sex" premieres tonight following the Late Night Movie on Playboy TV. Said the auteur himself in a press release for the series, "These conversations were so interesting, so filled with insight, drama and serious eroticism, that I decided to film them and share them with an audience. What could be better than beautiful women talking honestly and provocatively?" I've already set the TIVO and suggest you do the same. -D. Cypher

<![CDATA[Deep Inside Joe Gallant (And His Big Jizzy Sock-Loads)]]>

Eros Zine editrix extraordinaire Abby Ehmann gets up close and personal with porn auteur Joe Gallant, who makes the kind of smut we here at Fleshbot just can't get enough of: visionary, idiosyncratic, and very, very hot. (His whole Patty Hearst obsession doesn't hurt our esteem of him either.) So what's the secret behind Gallant's crafting of such modern day porn classics like "Avenue X", "Killing Courtney Luv", and "Crack Whores of the Tenderloin"? "I've simply tried to make the types of flicks that I personally would shoot big jizzy sock-loads to," he reveals. If we knew it was that easy, we would've put down our keyboards and picked up a camcorder a long time ago.

<![CDATA[Philip Mond's "Sinema": Now Carapace-Free!]]>

We have to admit that we weren't very charitable when we posted about Florida-based erotic visionary Philip Mond's "Insexts" last year—but really, it's hard to take porn seriously when the performers are fucking and sucking while wearing giant day-glo bug costumes. Things are somewhat less "Animal Planet"-ish in Mond's newest production "Sinema", starring bombshells Chloe Dior and Mond's real-life partner Gina Mond, no longer hiding her light under a paper-mache cephalothorax ... though a 200-pound python is also part of the cast. The preview looks as hot as any Porn Valley production we've seen lately and everything seems directed with a commendable gloss and polish, but we can't help feeling like there's something missing. Would you still respect us if we told you that we're getting nostalgic about all those bobbing antennae after all?

<![CDATA[Jim Malibu's "Pure Pussy Goes Goth"]]>

To put things in perspective: when Jim Malibu started his career in the adult industry, Jimmy Carter was president (or maybe Ronald Reagan; we're a little unclear as to the exact chronology); the initials "ATM" stood for neither "automatic teller machine" nor "ass to mouth" since neither had been invented yet; and Jenna Jameson was barely out of diapers. But despite his august and grizzled status in the world of porn, Malibu manages to keep both a fresh perspective on his life's work as well as a finger firmly on the pulse on what the kids (and pervs like us) are into these days with last winter's release of "Pure Pussy Goes Goth", the latest in his long-running and popular "Pure Pussy" series. Considering the fact that we generally get burned out by all those boobies everywhere we look by late afternoon on a Tuesday nearly every week, the man's enthusiasm for his job is something we can all aspire to.

<![CDATA[Photoplay: Rob Rotten's "Scurvy Girls 2"]]>

Rob Rotten's porn setups—the reason why people are having sex in the first place—are as high concept as anyone's. But Rotten eschews cable guys, pool cleaners, and pizza delivery dudes. Instead, he begins by dressing his female performers in 80's New Wave slutwear and presents motivations like "Someone is watching you urinate and you get angry. Angry enough to have sex with them."

First off, none of these girls actually has scurvy, though the ill-lit bathrooms featured in the movie are reminiscent of 19th century sailing ships. And Rotten's Nadsat boxcover introduction ("packed to the ol' gulliver with splendid Molodoy devotchkas") also sends the wrong message. But not one of the performers in "Scurvy Girls 2" seems out of place in her surroundings, which is more than you can say for various pirate movies.

The person below is not the same as the person above. Am I racist if I think all punk girls look the same?

<![CDATA[Rob Rotten Wants You To Swallow His Children]]>

You might think that punk porn auteur Rob Rotten would have a hard time following up such titles as "Anal Swine" and "Sperm Sponges", but if there's anything else the director is known for besides his penchant for droogspeak and having the word "prison" "poison" tattooed on his dick, it's his pluckiness. So we can't help but be excited about his next all-blowjob opus "Swallow My Children", even though he's barely finished filming it—and especially because the press release from the company that's releasing it is a classic of its kind: "First, I want to apologize to anyone who may be offended by the title of Rob Rotten's new movie. I want to state unequivocally that absolutely no people were actually swallowed during the production of this movie. True, several million sperm-cells were indeed ingested as they passed through the gullets of several attractive and thirsty—or is it hungry?—ladies ...(B)ut it should be noted that absent contact with a fertile ovary, the swimmers cannot technically be considered people and as such, Rob cannot be charged with murder." Try arguing with that kind of logic.

<![CDATA[Porn Valley Dispatch: Your Week in Porn Fracases]]>

We have no idea whether Mercury is in retrograde this month, but we do know that Tera Patrick and Lucy Lee, who is a former contract performer for Tera's company Teravision, got in a spat so close to the famous corner of Hollywood and Vine last week prior to the XRCO Awards that it is a wonder both weren't scooped up by passing Hollywood talent scouts and made major stars.

Meanwhile, halfway across the world in Thailand, porn director John T. Bone and associates were busted by police for having instruments of pornography and the intent to use them.

Lee and Patrick, former friends who fell out, resulting in Lee's dismissal from the company, encountered each other outside Hollywood's Forbidden City night club, where Tera was about to host an awards show.

Lee claims Patrick's company still owes her money, and that her non-compete agreement prohibited her from working. Non-compete agreements in any industry are terrifically difficult to enforce, but the porn world is strange, and it is possible that Tera's reputation alone was enough to keep Lee from working. In the wake of the scrape, performer Nikki Benz also said Tera treated her poorly.

Lee and Patrick had a shouting match which led to a mutual tossing of drinks, which may or may not be copyright infringement. Sources say Lee was the first to toss a drink.

Teravision issued a statement today denying wrongdoing.

We disagree with the allegations that Ms. Lee is owed money, and we certainly disagree with her fabrications as to what took place at the awards show. If Ms. Lee believes she is owned money, the proper way to address that would be to call our offices. She has never raised any such issues in the past- it is interesting, and questionable that she chooses to do so now in the press, on the heels of Ms. Benz's unfounded allegations. It is unfortunate that these two have seemingly "paired up" to try and spread a negative smear campaign- we are not sure what their motivation may be, but we have no doubt that soon we will learn where their intentions are.

2007_04_11_bone.jpg
Meanwhile, in Thailand, John Bowen, aka porn director John T. Bone, was arrested along with Kyle Mark Micgram, a director for Hustler, in Pattaya City. The pair had set up a studio in an apartment where police found images of the Buddha in every corner, which they allege would be seen "in every frame" of porn movies the pair would make.

The police further allege that Bone and Micgram used prostitutes and "katueys" (transvestites or transsexuals) in the creation of the films and an accompanying website.

Bowen argued that he was not the only person in Thailand doing what he was arrested for, but the police didn't consider that sufficient reason to let him go. Bowen's website says that "rumors of my incarceration are are (sic) greatly exaggerated".

<![CDATA[Jean-Claude Brisseau's "Exterminating Angels"]]>

"A date that begins with 'Exterminating Angels,' Jean-Claude Brisseau's suave and salacious new movie, is likely to end up either in bed or in court." So begins A.O. Scott's review of the controversial film which opens today in Manhattan after stirring up its due share of brouhaha during its premiere in Cannes last year and which is shaping up to be this year's "9 Songs" or "Shortbus" in terms of depicting explicit sex in the context of an arthouse film release—though you'd never know it from the trailer, which is all subtitles and shadowy glimpses of whispery, heaving flesh. Stll, as Scott points out in his review, it's the rare instance of mainstream cinema that was presented with a 2257 compliance certificate at the critics' screening. Just don't expect anything along the lines of, say, "Dirt Pipe Milkshakes". This is a French arthouse film, after all.
