Not that we, er, minded seeing all those naked PETA ads—but seeing Karine Vanasse (and others) go topless for breast cancer research just feels...more justified.

Cause at least in this case those naked breasts are actually inspiring us to fight for the rights of breasts for funding to keep them healthy, instead of just, um, confusing us and making us horny (though, again, not that we mind that or anything).

<![CDATA[(Un)Censored In Montreal]]> Montreal's Censored Festival bills itself as the city's "most uninhibited week, where everyone is free to indulge their sexuality"—which as you can probably guess means that things aren't really censored at all. Featuring workshops, an art exhibition and expo, and loads of theme parties and special events celebrating alternative lifestyles in all their kinky glory, we can assume that our friends up north are going to be having one big, latexy hangover by the time the week is over. But at least with ten percent of the proceeds going to Amnesty International, attendees can feel like their debauchery is contributing to the greater good. (Not that we'd need any additional excuse to go to Saturday night's Robots and Dolls Ball, of course. But it's still nice to know that our perversions have a purpose.)

<![CDATA[Darryl's Hard Liquor and Porn Film Festival]]>

There are two things in life we can't do with out: porn and top-shelf booze. (Or bottom shelf. We're not that picky, actually.) So when we hear about something like Darryl's Hard Liquor and Porn Film Festival, obviously it's going to get our attention. The yearly festival is a double gathering in both Montreal and Toronto that gives aspiring filmmakers a chance to tackle their favorite subject and (we assume) do a lot of drinking. The festival itself isn't until later this year, but they are currently taking submissions for short films under four minutes length. They movies don't actually have to be porn (though we're sure a little T&A wouldn't hurt), they're just looking for funny or interesting takes on sex that hopefully rise above the unintentional comedy you find on PornoTube every day. So if you've got an idea in your brain and a video camera, start working on that script. You might want to stock up on ice, too—someone had to keep all those drinks cold.

<![CDATA[Meet Cicatrix]]>

Ella at Cicatrix.net introduces herself by saying "My body has been modified for the past twenty years." It isn't what you typically think of when you hear "body modification," however: she's referring to scars from a childhood accident that burned nearly a third of her body. Now that she's all grown up, Ella has embraced those wounds and displays them as proudly as any alt-porn girl showing off her latest tattoo. She performs in burlesque and cabaret shows in her hometown of Montreal and has also modeled both nude and non-nude for several different photographers, the results of which you can see on her site. Considering the lengths some folks will go to change their physical appearance, it's nice to see someone make a real statement with her own unique beauty.

<![CDATA[Photos by Sol Lang]]>

Something seems to be amiss at Flickr these days as we're finding more than the usual amount of black bars covering those previously unfettered body parts. Fortunately, Montreal-based photographer Sol Lang has not limited himself to just the photo sharing site to get his work out to the masses (though if you simply ask to be his Flickr friend he'll gladly share the unedited versions of his photos.) Sol also has his own official website and a blog, where you can see more of his gorgeously intimate nude portraits. His photos are shot mostly in black and white and sepia tones, but are so sharp and vibrant that they almost feel like full color. Vibrant also isn't a bad way to describe his gorgeous models either, who are something to behold—when they aren't covered by black tape, that is.

<![CDATA[Photos (and Films) by Mia Donovan]]>

The multitalented Mia Donovan is a Montreal-based artist, photographer, and filmmaker who holds a BFA from Concordia University and whose projects include a documentary film on fellow Canadian Lara Roxx, the HIV-positive pornstar who was at the center of a notorius adult industry crisis and quarantine a few years ago—but we have a feeling her resumé won't interest you as much as will the photos in her latest project:

"In her most recent work, Stripped, Donovan takes a look at desire commodifed—sex as it is produced, packaged, bought and sold within the sex industry. Stripped is a series of colour photographs of women who provide subject and body to the adult entertainment industry. These lush, large-scale images operate more like documentary photographs than as portraits as Donovan represents the women as they appear on the job. Donovan's subjects are shown not only in the various locations where they work, but more importantly, they are presented in the dress and mien of their work personas."
Translation: hot porn babes in various states of undress on and off the set. It may be art with a higher purpose, but we can't help thinking there's a lot to appreciate on a less noble level as well.
