Working in a Sex Monastery: "The Taunting"

It's unclear why Lystra, an underfed little naked ghost, is pursuing a couple through a monastery, all the while showing them images of bondage coitus. If it's a flashback, we don't see what the problem was. Did she die of exposure? Regardless, "The Taunting" is a very tasty - and often genuinely creepy - porn movie, that doesn't so much taunt as deliver.

The Taunting

Slutty goth and/or emo college students with no respect for the dead break into a monastery and its adjacent cemetery, stirring up a creepy naked ghost. But is it a good creepy naked ghost or a bad creepy naked ghost?

Director/co-writer Zenova Braeden and producer/co-writer Bob Johnson put together an atmospheric and at times genuinely spooky movie that has no lack of fleshy, fetishy sex throughout. One of the best things that can be said about a movie is, "Well I suppose it's plausible..." And this one is!

As the interlopers make their way through the building, they are tailed by Lystra, channeling every recent Japanese horror spirit in her erratic movements, uncombed hair, and her tendency to pop up in unexpected places.

Lystra as "The Ghost" seems to infect her prey with visions of all manner of BDSM sex until the couple, too, fall prey to it. It isn't made entirely clear why the ghost has this mission, but ours is not to question a good thing. So Yes, Gilligan, she is a good, good ghost.

Streaking With Gianna: "Shane's World Scavenger Hunt Seattle"

As the list of challenges went on—such as eating a fish's eyeball, streaking, and shaving a stranger's balls—we were convinced that "Shane's World 40: Seattle Scavenger Hunt" would be really cool if it were true. It was when team member Gianna announced that she needed a drink before she got started that we began thinking this was a real documentary.

Two teams of four get a limo and $100 each to complete an identical series of optional or mandatory tasks. each weighted for difficulty and chutzpah. All involve either interaction with the public or public displays of hardcore action set against a Pacific Northwest backdrop albeit with no distracting cameos by former members of Soundgarden.

Some of the stunts, like flushing their hands in a public toilet and eating fish eyes, are characteristic of Shane's World's devotion to its reality-style "Real World" roots. And when former Vivid girl Cassidey and Kacey Jordan convince a local to let them shave his balls and then give him the full porn star treatment, it really is a millennial Horatio Alger story.

"My day couldn't get any better," he says.

"You sure you don't just wanna fuck us?" Cassidey (who, up until this moment in the movie, hasn't appeared as enthusiastic as everyone else) asks. "We have condoms."

"If you do us both," Jordan adds, "that's 2,000 extra points."

Following two nights of partying with local bikers (one of whom was particularly lucky), one team squeaked out a narrow victory.

Similar to JM Productions' "American Bukkake" movies, these Shane's World ventures into the general population provide a snapshot of the porn-buying public, and sometimes it's a little scary, like a high school party you think might go wrong and you have no ride home.

But people should be so lucky to have women like Gianna, Cassidey, and Delilah Strong in high school.

"Ready Wet Go 5" Is Good Clean Fun

The lowered standards of many gonzo titles we've seen lately have left us feeling pretty bummed out, after all, when we watch porn we expect to see hot chicks and hung guys who look like they enjoy fucking each other, not something that looks like leaked interrogation footage shot by Rick Solomon at Abu Ghraib. Fortunately, the fifth release in Third Degree's unique "Ready Wet Go" series is full of nothing but enthusaistic performers working hard to earn your love and attention. Then again, what else would you expect after seeing Fleshbot Crush Object Gianna smiling at you from the cover?

The only problem people might have with the DVD is the nature of the Ready Wet Go" series itself. Is it merely just gonzo series? Is it an oil fetish spectacular (and if so, why doesn't it say so in the title)? Or is it simply something made for anyone who appreciates callipygian women with various glistening substances all over their bodies?

Ultimately, though, such fine-grained matters of classification are besides the point. What's important here is that Gianna is joined by Diana Doll, Brittney Stevens, Brianna Luv, and the amazing Alexis Texas, all of whom turn in some pretty great performances without anything like plot or atmosphere to get in the way—and who all look like they're having a hell of a good time doing it. Whatever you want to call it, you can't ask more from your porn than that.

The whole "Jack" motif, devised by director Robby D., involves an offscreen character trying to get girls to do nasty things. In some movies, such as this one, the context is "What will you do to be in my music video?"

Digital Playground continues to refine how standard porn is presented, often improvising within a rigid structure to make things interesting. In this fourth installment of "Jack's POV", the crew doesn't deviate from the norm so much as it optimizes the POV (that's "point of view" for you neophytes) experience. While offscreen distractions are often hit or miss, and the music video setup has really become an afterthought at this point, the formula is honed a little finer each time, and this movie features a very engaging cast.

First up is Ava Rose, who shot this movie just before becoming a contract performer with Adam & Eve. Rose is very saucy, effectively interacting with the person holding the camera, not the camera itself.

"You have a scandalous laugh, Jack my friend," Rose says. "(But) you don't give a shit as long as I'm sucking your cock."

The lusty Gianna is next. Gianna herself has a scandalous laugh, and I can't imagine that older porn consumers who cut their teeth, as it were, on large-breasted tough girls next door won't see a second coming of sorts with this one.

Robby D. pays special attention to the cowgirl position, which affords ample opportunity to watch Gianna's breasts bounce this way and that. It was so hypnotizing that I wished I smoked so I could quit.

The result of Gianna's exertions with her faceless partner, naturally, lands on her breasts. I bet the number of times she has taken one in the face can be counted on one hand, which would be clenched elsewhere anyway. Was that crude?

A funny interlude between Scott Nails, Jack, and Faith follows in which Jack tries to persuade Faith to not do guys on film. Cut to Faith blowing Nails and Nails blowing loads. Was that crude?

Sexual Freak Jesse Jane arrives with a cake for Jack (his parents didn't bother calling on his birthday). Jane's presence in a room tends to ionize the atmosphere a little, so well stocked is her bag of tricks. She is the only one of the five who talks more than Jack in her scene.

In another clever interlude, Lexi Belle shows up at the door as Jesse Jane is leaving, bringing her own, smaller cake.

"Size doesn't matter," Jack stammers.

"Uh, yeah it does," replies Belle. The fresh-faced Belle proceeds to be consoled, but not before eating some of the goo-smeared frosting from Jane's scene. It's a little crude.

"Jack's POV 4" is a fun movie throughout, though just the Gianna scene is worth the price of admission.
