The panel—a part of the SXSW Film Festival—is called "Vivid Entertainment –The Sex-Driven Market," and will, presumably, be as much a commercial for Vivid as a deep discussion of the adult industry:

For 25 years, Vivid Entertainment has not just dominated the adult film industry, it has played a major role in shaping the evolution of home distribution from VHS and DVD to Internet and Blu-ray. CEO and founder Steve Hirsch will discuss how the video distribution landscape has developed over the years and what's in store for the changing marketplace. The discussion will also address the increased mainstreaming of adult film as well as its role as a training ground for Hollywood filmmakers and professionals.

But at least it'll be a commercial featuring Meggan Mallone and Hanna Hilton. Who are we to complain about that?

(Unless, of course, the whole thing gets derailed by a discussion of the Octomom stunt...)

But we've got to be diligent.

It's important for our magically-restored national pride to not backslide into calling every boob-having non-breeder over 25 a MILF. Sensing this, the thoughtful Spyder Jonez recalibrated his "American MILF" series, all of two episodes old, by subtitling the latest version "Enter the Cougar."

Because while a MILF can be a Cougar (it's all about the aggression), every Cougar is not necessarily a MILF. Despite how simple this is, people still get confused.

"Lisa Ann is perhaps the ultimate MILF," Jonez said, we imagine while tenting his fingers. Ultimate in that her loins have not borne fruit?

The movie features both Lisa Ann AND Raquel Devine, the two pornstars who inhabited the role of Sarah Palin, as well as Julia Ann (no relation to Lisa Ann), Austin Kincaid, and Shayla Laveaux as catty girlfriends planning a high school reunion. Each needs to come to terms with her mortality and sexual ripeness in her own way, but the movie teaches us that all women are sisters if they have vaginas.

A slew of gals from DeviantNation were on hand to spice things up with flesh and hospitality. Nessie Monster and Megan Filth were the pastie-clad dominatrixes of the event, and spared few asses from their crops. Stitch, the queen of suspension, did some amazing acrobatics while hung from a quartet of hooks through her knees; not to be outdone, her fellow DN'ers Arin and Spawn were swinging from hooks in their backs while being spanked and fondled by the Doms.

Between all that and an assortment of sideshow activities that included a penis ring toss and vagina ping-pong, it was easy to overlook the fact that only a minority of those in attendance showed up in costume as per the invitation ... though there were plenty of pasties and creative uses of duct tape in evidence as well. (And all those flying nipples managed to raise over $6000 for AIDS charities in Austin. Guess things like burlesque and extreme BDSM can make you feel good on the inside too.)

It might not be totally accurate to call Austin-based Paul Richards a pinup artist per se—his portfolio includes plenty of examples of work that doesn't fit into that category, like puppies and pumpkins and assorted ghosts, ghouls, and goblins. And fans of traditional pinup work may find themselves a bit discomfited by some of his more outrageous sexy creations, like eight-nippled raygun-toting alien babes or hot Chthulu-on-space chick action. As far as we're concerned, though, the art of pinup illustration is a constantly evolving one—which is to say that as much as we admire the traditional cheesecake kind, we can't get enough of things like eight-nippled raygun-toting alien babes and hot Chthulu-on-space chick action. So let's hope the talented Mr. Richards keeps bringing us more of it. (And did we mention that he accepts commissions too?)
