In case you haven't consulted that sexy fireman/priest/dishwasher calendar lately, it's July already, folks, which can mean only one thing: exuberant displays of half-naked nationalism! Canadian readers got their dose on Tuesday, the French get theirs the week after next—and we, like the Baby Bears that we are, are just right in the middle. (Brits, for reasons still unclear, got their special day back in June. Which seems a little antisocial to us. Just sayin'!) In preparation for our staff trip to the ~~beach~~ ~~pool~~ lawn sprinkler, we looked high and low for skimpy swimwear to express our true Inner American. And what do you know? There's a heck of a lot of Old Glory-inspired beachwear out there than we ever would have imagined. (Or would ever wear ourselves, but that's another story.)

Some of it is sexy, while some of it we'd be happy to burn—thereby saving the world from bad fashion and exercising our First Amendment rights at the same time. (Who says we can't multitask on a holiday?) So while the flocks in Paris swelter at the couture shows, we're taking you on a far more comfortable survey of nationalist beach togs. Pack the sunscreen and some extra Dramamine for the ride.

Yeah, this was the first thing that popped up in our search. And on the surface, it seems okay. That star, those colors—-there's patriotism aplenty, but it certainly ain't swimwear. We know there are people who wear underwear to the pool in lieu of a tasteful square-cut or board short, but we hope you aren't among them. We'd rather you go nude. (But then, we'd always rather you go nude.)

The unusual look of this tiny garment is more than enough to attract attention, to say the least. On the upside, it looks kind of comfy, and it's probably easy to get out of quickly (which is always a bonus in our book). On the downside, the tan line it leaves behind has to be weird. The design is also clearly Japanese-inspired—and what do you think this is, Japan Day? Disqualified!

This one may seem pretty innocuous, but look closer. Can you see it? There's newsprint on that bathing suit! Do you want complete strangers looking that closely at your junk? (Well, of course you do ... but not reading it.)

Well, it seems that Xiao Yun's charitable work has garnered more attention than she originally intended, or at least a different type of attention: police in Thailand have been monitoring her picture posting (for strictly professional reasons, of course) and it seems they're trying to make sure that none of her charity passes over into Thai web space, where risqué material is strictly verboten.

We've seen a lot of badly designed websites over the years here at Fleshbot (we do write about porn, after all)—but French glamour and art nude photographer Frederic Peche's is definitely one to remember: the text-heavy layout has all the sexiness and verve of the minutes from your local zoning board meeting. In fact, it's so badly designed and unappealing that we're not really sure how we managed to find the photos at all; good thing that "Portfolio" is one of the three or four French words we remember. But we're glad we stuck around, because Peche's photos are pretty hot. And at the end of the day, isn't that what really matters? Come on, it's not like you're going to jack it to good web design. Digital Playground director Robby D. is back with another zesty edition of his favorite game: Fuck the New Girl! Which would actually make a better name for his series of (alleged) porn newbies than "My First Porn"; as we've said before, it can get a little confusing sometimes when they happen to star performers who we've seen in action many times before. It would have been too easy for photographer Phillip Toledano simply to have taken pictures of phone sex operators, assembled them into book form, and called it a day: after all, even the most enthusiastic of phone sex fans must be aware on some level of the disconnect between the fantasy they're creating with whoever's on the other end of the line and the reality of what that person is really like, and a bunch of images that just illustrated that concept visually over and over again would've gotten boring pretty quickly. What makes Toledano's "Phone Sex" so interesting, though, is that that he gives each of his subjects an opportunity to discuss their careers in their own words—and while we could've done without the free verse formatting the tales they have to tell are pretty fascinating, from observations that phone sex is just another form of customer service to one woman's story about a particular fantasy one of her callers had involving some undigested asparagus. But we'll let you read that one for yourself.

Photographer To Naked Models: "Do It Yourself"

We're big fans of the DIY ethic, mostly because whenever our bosses ask us to stay a little late and put in some extra work our response is usually, "Do it yourself!" But there's a different kind of DIY that we're also fans of, and it's in the same style as the homemade self-sufficient photography that made MySpace famous. Photographer Uwe Ommer devoted a whole book to the self-shot naked portrait, helping his models to create nude photographs that they snapped on their own. Ommer obviously lent a helping hand with the setup and lighting, so the results are miles above the pouty-look-in-the-mirror snapshots that are a staple of social networking profile pics. But the concept remains the same—leave a beautiful girl alone with a camera and see what she can create. We don't want to ruin the surprise for you, but it's pretty hot.

We actually attended a women's roller derby match recently and can therefore say with some authority that these contests do not usually devolve into hair-pulling, shirt-ripping, girl-on-girl topless brawls. (Yes, we did feel a bit ripped off, but it was a fun time anyway.) So we have to inform you that this roller girl showdown between Bizarre magazine models Sarah-Jayne and Nina Kate isn't that realistic. But like that hot all-girl orgy on wheels that wasn't, it's still entertaining: the fight may be staged, but the sexiness isn't. Just don't expect a real roller girl to tear her shirt off whenever you ask her to. She might tear your head off instead, unless you ask very, very nicely.
