Remembering Paul Raymond

Any death is sad, particularly when the person who died was described in nearly all of his obituaries as the "porn king of Soho." But it wasn't until we starting reading deeper into those obituaries that we realized just how much Parl Raymond had impacted our own lives. The owner of London's raciest nightclubs and publisher of eight of the UK's top ten adult magazines, Raymond revolutionized smut in Britain, doing it dirtier than Hugh Hefner ever dreamed and in an arguably much tougher legal enviornment — and earning a personal worth of an estimated $1 billion in the process. (He also founded the magazine Club, which was pretty much the nastiest thing we'd ever seen when our innocent young eyes first caught a glimpse of it all those many years ago). Sleazy and shady in the best possible ways, we're really going to miss the guy ... and we didn't even know it.

There is some unfortunate news to report as Joe Romero, one of the most recognized faces (and bodies) from 1990s gay porn, has passed. According to GayVN and journalist JC Adams, the prolific pornstar, musician and performance artist who was born David Joseph Romero, passed on October 30 at his home in Manchester, New Hampshire. Romero was one of the first (if not the first) gay Latino pornstars and developed an incredible résumé of hundreds of films. More »

People who see porn as a multi-billion-dollar cautionary tale need look no further than the sad story of husband and wife Inkyo Volt Hwang (aka Chico or Wanker Wang) and Maryam Irene Haley (aka Haley Paige). Hwang was a website owner and director of extreme porn videos, and Paige was a performer who appeared in the gamut of what porn has to offer, from gangbangs to "couples-friendly" films.

Hwang was arrested on suspicion of pistol-whipping Haley in June, they were married at the beginning of August in Las Vegas, she was dead at month's end, and he was found dead in September.

RIP Haley Paige

Sad news from the porn world this week as AVN confirms the death of popular starlet Haley Paige back in August under what might best be described as mysterious circumstances. Paige starred in over 300 productions during her five year career in the adult industry, including memorable appearances in "Joanna Angel's Guide", Digital Playground's "Jack's Teen America 4" and Frank Castle's "The New Neighbors". She was 26 years old.
