Our nerdy sibling site Kotaku has looked up from their XBox DSs or their Nintendo 360s or whatever it is that occupies most of their time and discovered that there's porn in them thar internets—and not just any porn, but geek-focused porn even! (Specifically, a babelog site called Gamer Fetish.) While they've gone all thinky about the topic, discussing the ways in which geek culture and porn culture overlap and crediting geek-themed porn with the future destigmatization of sexy pictures, we (with our extensive experience on the topic), would like to offer a slightly less highfalutin opinion on the "new" phenomenon of geek porn.

Geek porn came about in much in the same way that the pierced and tattooed girls of altporn did—in fact, back in the olden days (or at least the late '90s/early '00s), geek porn and good old fashioned altporn were pretty much both subsets of the same general amateur genre. Over time, though, both got co-opted by The Man: altporn became the province of such companies as VividAlt, and sexy geeks got such polished productions as ~~"Whores of Warcraft"~~ ~~"Whorecraft"~~ "Whorelore". If anything, the current incarnation of geek porn isn't so much a sign that geeks are making sex safe for work, or at least for dinner table conversation: it's more that Big Porn has recognized geekery as a mainstream (or mainstream enough) enough culture to eroticize, monetize, and cash in on.

But you don't really want a lecture on all that—you want pictures of naked geeky girls! Good thing we can provide that too.

We're a little annoyed at our father right now, because we just got another painful reminder of how he neglected us ... by failing to save all the useless crap from his childhood that would be super valuable today. No baseball cards, no stamps, no G.I. Joe dolls in their original unopened packaging. It's like he wasn't even thinking of us (or our eBay accounts) at all! Outside of a few random Playboy's, he couldn't even be bothered to save any classic smut from those bygone days. Fortunately, some of his generation showed a little more foresight and passed down those long forgotten, but still quite entertaining porn rags from the 1950s and '60s.

Most have titles you've never heard of and babes you don't recognize, but their ~~fapping~~ historical value cannot be denied, as these complete issue scans found on the Vintage Girly Magazines blog can attest. Even though we're happy living in this digital age, it's nice to know that if Fleshbot had been around some 2000 years ago, we still would have had plenty of naughty material to blog about. As we've said before, it's impossible to truly rank one pair of cans over another (even if we feel Sophia Loren deserves some special mention) ... but it's good to be reminded that the film world has always done a fantastic job of utilizing its greatest special effect.

Pornifying History: Stalags, Sex, And The Holocaust

Despite its more obvious intentions and effects, like any example of visual culture pornography serves as a reflection of the time and place in which it was produced: witness the cocaine-soaked ambiance and Reaganesque paranoia of such 80s porn classics as "New Wave Hookers" and "Cafe Flesh", or for that matter any of the celebrity culture-obsessed porn knockoffs of the current decade. But there's few examples of the collusion between porn, popular culture, and history stranger or more disturbing than the series of pornographic comics produced in Isreal during the early 1960s known as "Stalags", in which testimonies of Holocaust survivors were used as the inspiration for graphic tales of hot female Nazis, sadism and sexual torture.

Filmmaker Ari Libsker drew from his own exposure to these works for a new documentary film that examines this "distinctly Israeli genre" of porn: "I realized that the first Holocaust pictures I saw, as one who grew up here, were of naked women ... We were in elementary school. I remember how embarrassed we were." While they were ostensibly based on actual first-person accounts by survivors of concentration camps, Libsker contends that the stalags were a "popular extension" of works by the writer who gave the first account of the Holocaust in Hebrew—and who allegedly embellished the historical record with tales of sexual slavery and prosititution in the Nazi's notorious Pleasure Block in Auschwitz. Whatever their provenance, stalags faded from the Israeli publishing scene only a few years after they first appeared, although their legacy lives on in any number of BDSM and sexploitation works produced since then. Midnight movie classic "Ilsa: She-Wolf Of The SS" didn't exactly come from nowhere, you know.
