What was the offending press release? Why, the plainly titled "Do White Girls Make Not the Cosbys XXX 2 Sequel Better?"

To be honest, I shouldn't have been that surprised by the press release. The adult industry makes no secret of the fact that white women are seen as the default sexual fantasy: with rare exception, black porn actresses are relegated to niche titles that fetishize the color of their skin. (Not that this makes the adult industry any different from, say, the fashion industry, but that's a topic for another article entirely.)

But still: to take "The Cosby Show"—a sacred cow of blacks in mainstream entertainment—and to suggest that it could be "improved" with the addition of a few more white faces (and bodies)? Well, that was a bit too far for me.

Let us not forget that the original "Cosbys XXX" was not exactly a, ahem, black movie. Despite the smiling black faces adorning the box cover, there was more than enough white flesh to make this a bonafide "interracial" feature. Of the five (non-masturbation) sex scenes, only one featured two black performers; what's more, due to the—predominantly white—six person orgy scene that clocked in as the first major sex scene, there were actually more white women than black women getting naked and sexed up in this ostensibly black movie. Not that that's how director Will Ryder recalls things:

"What many don't realize is that we had white girls in the first movie and even a cute Asian but most still think of it as a black movie and not even an interracial movie but that is not true," Ryder remarked.

The obvious problem here is the insinuation that being a black movie is somehow the lesser option, that there is somehow a problem with people not recognizing the movie as interracial, with not recognizing that there are white girls in it, too. Apparently, Ryder's hoping to avoid making the same mistake with the sequel: while the box cover for the original feature showed the (not) Cosby family together, with not a single white face in the picture, the box cover for the sequel (shown here) has Cliff along with three white women and a Latina—and not a single one of the black women who are the ostensible stars of the feature.

Not that Will Ryder is racist or anything:

"Black is beautiful baby but we love women of all colors so we tossed in some more white ladies and a cute girl from Miami into this sequel and as you can see by the box cover Cliff is loving it," Ryder joked.

While the sentiment that "we love women of all colors" is a nice one, Ryder's never been compelled to demonstrate his love of diversity by adding some extra flavor to a predominantly white movie. "Not The Bradys" doesn't provide us with a scene of the boys going to work on a team of black women, no dark skinned beauties pop up unannounced in "Not Three's Company." Granted, one could argue that scenes like those wouldn't be true to the original sitcom—but then again, a six person, predominantly white orgy involving none of the show's characters isn't exactly true to "The Cosby Show," either.

What it feels like, ultimately, is that Ryder—and Porn Valley at large—feels the need to apologize for featuring black performers, for giving them time in the (mainstream) sun. Because black movies are seen as niche movies, any film that wants to be perceived as mainstream plays up its "interracial" angle, or its white performers—without any concern for what kind of message this sends about the film's black talent (hint: it doesn't make them look awesome).

And the longer we keep doing this, the longer we refuse to promote a predominantly black movie as mainstream in its own right, the more we relegate black porn performers as second class citizens. "Not the Cosbys" had the opportunity to shatter this glass ceiling, to make a black movie that was also mainstream because of its "Cosby Show" connection. And yet Will Ryder gleefully squandered the opportunity—and, with this press release, shat on any hope that he might, one day, come forth with a semi-enlightened perspective on race in the adult industry.

Perhaps it should not be called a "romp," but Nikki Jayne is getting more and more accessible each time she appears on screen. In "Nikki's House," in which she plays an accident-prone housesitter to the rigid Kristina Rose, Jayne's 70's sex bomb looks blend easily with her softening Mancunian accent - she couldn't have pulled this off two years ago - until she is nearly indistinguishable from, well, a fuckable Olivia Newton John.

As Jayne struggles to find a way to replace a broken vase in Rose's home, she turns to methods - let's admit it - we've all tried in tight economic situations. Bobbi Starr and Andy San Dimas look great as Jayne's go-to cougars.

Krossing the Bar

Not only does "Krossing the Bar" provide a delightful class of white-collar cumshots, but the two-disc set comes with an extra called "Kayden's First Squirt". Monique's Lost Footage

To be clear: Monique Alexander is not Puerto Rican.

Still, the appearance of "Monique's Lost Footage" would give the casual porn consumer the impression that Alexander is dead or gone to Shelly Lubben. In fact, Alexander is alive and well and appearing as a "Sporty Girl" with Elegant Angel and as Diane in a recent New Sensations "Cheers" parody.

And she is not Puerto Rican. She's from Sacramento.

But the four scenes of "Monique's Lost Footage," also featuring Gianna Lynn and the aptly-named Lily Lovely, do have a second-class-citizen vibe to them—together they make up a movie that has no plot or coherence other than the fact that Alexander is in two of the scenes, and the movie is framed with a grainy film projector wraparound that suggests these otherwise-unrelated scenes were found in Vivid's vaults deep below Universal City Nissan.

Was this really lost footage? And can Vivid really afford to let the world know that they are in the habit of "losing" essential documentation?

But who are we to ask such questions? Let us instead contemplate that perfect, taut surface that is Monique Alexander and hope that she doesn't become Vivid's Marshall Islands. Like Stafanie Morgan.

The end!

As you will see from the gallery, everyone in this movie is fantastically attractive, but the one thing that would have saved this French-language film for me was a laugh track. Despite a weekend of fucking, Miguel puts hs foot down on dainty carpet munching.

When you first heard about a porn parody of A&E's Intervention series, what came to mind? Did you envision sex addicts? Naughty rehabilitation techniques? Whatever you thought of is probably more interesting than what Hustler and Slain Wayne dreamed up.

Only one (two-part) vignette deals with any sex-related issue, and it's really only about Seth Gamble's chronic masturbation. Gamble is the perfect guy for this; he looks like the bad boy from every mid 1990s sitcom ever. His mother, Raylene, is tired of his masturbation getting in the way of family life, and he gets her assistants to sit with them for the intervention. However, the intervention never happens.

Downstairs, Cody Love tries to get Raylene to relax with a back rub. One thing leads to the next, and they start scissoring. Sadly, the gritty Intervention-style camera displays weak resolution, and the delicate intricacies of labial smooshing are lost to the viewer. Meanwhile, Gamble is in his room with another one of Raylene's aides, Briana Blair. Blair tells Gamble he has a "huge problem," but Gamble only heard "huge cock" so he unzips his fly. Gamble fucks her with strange intimacy, often clutching her body to his, before he crudely busts on her face. He's cured! Except now Blair is stuck with him.

True to its name, "This Ain't Intervention XXX" has few intervention scenes. Brett Rockman and Amy Brooke were waiting for the family to show up and talk about Brooke's gambling addiction, but a friendly game of poker became strip poker, became blowjob poker, and finally became threesome-with-sloppy-facefucking-and-anal poker when Joey Brass walked in. It's simultaneously the most daring and the most boring scene in the film, as Brooke's monotone moans color her fucking the same drab beige as the hotel room. At least her gambling addiction gets cured.

The star-studded vignette about hoarding features Britney Amber as a pack rat, Kagney Linn Karter as her friend, and Jerry as some French professor who hangs out with them. They actually (briefly) have an intervention, but Karter gets frustrated and storms off followed by Jerry. Like any good, sensitive intellectual would, Jerry goes straight to eating Karter's pussy, and then flips the script with an intense bit of throatfucking that leaves her forehead covered in spit. Karter is, as always, a joy to watch, and the oral creampie at the end makes for a refreshing bit of fappable novelty in an otherwise redundant film.

Britney Amber tries to steal a tripod from the cameraman, Arnold Schwarzenpecker, and then offers to trade him a blowjob for the equipment. It's a creative excuse to have a bit of POV sucking, but Schwarzenpecker drops the camera within minutes. There's nothing else remarkable about the scene, except the strange sense that Britney Amber looks like every other girl in this film.

It's true, every girl in "This Ain't Intervention XXX" (with the exception of Raylene) has blonde hair with dark brown roots and squeaks when fucked. We're not demanding diverse casts for every porn, but this movie greatly suffered from redundancy and lack of creativity.

A good parody considers the themes and overarching structures of its subject, and pays attention to the critical pieces of the show. For example, if you're going to poke fun at Intervention, you might want to have a few interventions in your movie. Even if you don't, you can link your fuckfest to the original show by including the counselors, the black title cards, or the joyous post-rehab reunions. Something! Anything! Please, Hustler, we need a parody fix and this was just a nasty tease.
