vivid is offering a milion dollars and medical/dental insurance. she's got 14 kids (for now), no job, and barely has a home. suleman should seriously think about it before turning down this kind of offer.
I think Vivid's offer is a great idea. Why should taxpayers bear the brunt this woman's lack of social responsibility when she could earn an honest paycheck for something she's probably already good at anyway? All her Christian conservative pro-life peeps will be the ones buying it anyway according to ABC News: http://tinyurl.com/agchnk
I see it as Vivid is taking advantage of a person who is not of sound mind. If people think that her dvd wouldn't sell then they need to check out some the Japanese porn that's out there. There is a market for her but, she is mentally unstable and going down that road will just make her worse and those kids will bear the brunt of her actions.
@AviMeerkat: I don't understand how writing about appreciation of the human form and human sexuality means that I can't call out Vivid for its shameless PR stunts.
@Lux Alptraum: Lux, you know based on my comments I love sex and the site is great.
In this case I have to agree with you. And you know I tend to take an over all look at situations. It is our right no matter what ever the forum to agree and disagree on subjects.
You HAVE EVERY right to take on Vivid. I love those guys but IMHO they are wrong!
You are right.
Maybe the first and last time we agree but that's what I love about freedom of speech!
So my dear aviMerkat while I will defend your right to your opinion, I must with all respect disagree.
First, $1 million is barely going to cover the cost of just getting the 8 babies out of the hospital in the first place, as the medical costs for each baby is over $100K each.
Second, let's say Nadya signs up and does the film. Does this torpedo her prospects for future employability? Perhaps. She can't hide her identity to future employers. There's no continuing income (kids are expensive, and with 14 of them it could easily be over $200-300K per year).
Third, would Nadya's notoriety actually translate into adult video sales to justify the $1 million? I would imagine a DVD starring Ashley Dupre grossing millions, but the Octo-mom? Perhaps not. Would anyone pay $39.99 for Octo-mom porn?
Personally, I am hoping that the hospital does not release the 8 babies into her care. If the government is going to pay for them, they might as well keep them out of her hands, and raise the Octo-babies in a super-secret facility and train them into an elite corps of future Octo-spies. Now, THAT would be a use of tax dollars!
@piggythewonderdog: Octo-spies, huh? Your ideas are intriguing and I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.
Seriously though, I think the idea of hiding her identity from prospective employers was shot when she shat out 8 kids and went on TV to talk about it. Also, yeah I think plenty of people would buy the octo-milf porn. It's not about the hawtness, just the public notoriety. We are a county full of celebrity worshipers, even when we're fapping away in private.
@Rhayader: Yeah... I suppose the whole financial angle from the start was intended to have these Octo-babies turned into some reality TV show. That in and of itself is not much different than Octo-mom porn.
I still say that an elite corps of Octo-babies turned into Octo-secret-agents would be totally awesome. Imagine - Jason Bourne X 8.
I don't see the issue here. Sounds to me like Vivid is clarifying their stance on the issue after Suleman's public statements about "belittling women" and the like. They have a right to stick up for themselves.
Not to mention the fact that they're right about the tax money. Just because some breeder wants to pop out kids at a record pace doesn't mean I should have to foot the bill. While she should obviously not be coerced into pornography, a responsible person would have a plan for providing for her kids.
@Rhayader: I don't think Vivid intends to make Nadya Suleman into a pornstar. I don't think they ever inteded to, or ever thought she would say yes. Perhaps if I felt this was a legitimate offer, I might feel differently--as it is, it just seems like an attempt to capitalize on someone else's fame, and then continue to do so, long after it's welcome or appropriate.
@Lux Alptraum: Yeah I mean, I guess we'll never know how they would have responded had she said yes. I haven't read anything indicating they would have rescinded their offer, although Fleshbot is obviously more well-acquainted with the industry than I am.
Still though, I find it a little ironic that we're depicting this woman as a victim of publicity whoring. Seems to me like maybe she was asking for it.
@Lux Alptraum: Yeah good point, although I bet more people know about the Vivid brand now than they did before. Jim Rome was talking about this story last week; he doesn't really make a habit of discussing porn industry news.
It's that good old fashioned American publicity machine at work again. Now I'm just waiting for special 8-packs of coke or something....
But seeing as Vivid will sit on a movie made three years ago before releasing it, this could just be a part of their strategy applied to people. Thus, she may be done with her contract but they're just gonna wait three years to acknowledge it.
She was supposedly at a Gala thrown by Vivid this past week in Vegas. So at least she is still doing promotions with them. She's also still being promoted as a Vivid Girl for upcoming events she is participating in.
If more women would buy their own damn porn, instead of relying on their menfolk to provide a statistical sample for their judgement, we'd have an entirely different industry. Instead they get a glimpse of what turns their fellas on and make broad pronouncements about the entire genre based on hubby's beat-up copy of Teenage Cumbelching Guttersluts #4.
You ladies want "better" porn? Buy the stuff you like. This is a market-oriented business -- you think people make amputee midget porn because they like it?
@Ian Ironwood: During my intensive research into women's porn (DVDs/Vids), I have found that there are not that many venues that are dedicated to just that. Can anyone recommend any North American sites - I've found HotMoviesForHer.com. On another note, this would be a great way to break into the market - Dedicated-to-women porn is going to be huge!

But what I really want to know is what happened to Pink Visual's diaper deal. Was that just an empty, "me too" stunt?
