Oh boy I bet Eva Green in The Dreamers is fucking FABULOUS on blu-ray. If that ever hits blu-ray, I just might have to do something about it.
Otherwise. this still doesn't make me want to buy a blu-ray player or blu-ray discs. And that says a lot cause if there was one thing that would make me a converter, it would be something like this. It will be obsolete in 10 years so I'll just wait for whatever that turns out to be.
"...we've never even seen a Blu-Ray player, let alone actually used one..."
What?! How is this possible. Guys, it's not like DVD's are going to come back in style... you're living in the past if you continue buying them over Blu-ray versions (or renting them, as you should also be doing).
@MCWHAMMER: My DVD player is my computer. And I don't really buy DVDs.
Also, to be honest, I think Blu-Ray isn't the future--the future is digital content. So why invest a ton of money in something that's going to be obsolete in a a matter of years?
@Lux Alptraum: digital content won't be the future until our country catches up to the rest of the civilized world in terms of broadband penetration (hehe, i know) and broadband speed. BUT...I do understand Lux's position, as Blu-Ray drives for PCs are still kinda pricey, and you need to make sure your video card and monitor are both HDCP compliant. I have a PS3, and honestly I watch my existing DVDs more than I do Blu-Rays, partially because the PS3 is also a fantastic up-scaling DVD player. I still prefer to buy and watch Blu-Rays for new movies and I've only replaced a very few of my existing DVDs with a Blu-Ray.
@FrancesTheMute: We've got a long time until the digital switch really happens for movies. Right now, with a pretty fast connection, I can go out, rent a movie, come back, and watch the whole thing by the time I've downloaded an entire movie in non-compressed 1080p movie (and most streaming services do not offer real 1080p). And I care about special features.
Also: I'm not going to cheat & read this now. I'll wait 'til my ish comes in the mail. & secretly I'll hope this is the first Gawker Media has gotten splashed across The New Yorker. In your face, Hamilton Nolan & A.J. Daulerio! #imagininggawkerlikemidstateoff... #luxhasavibratorofdeathquestion...#fleshbotawards
@fragile: I get a mid- to late-90s "future fonts" vibe from it, which seems fitting, since on the internet, as with all tech advance, porn was the vanguard. I like. #fleshbotawards
We are so far away from evolving where procreation will be a problem it's not funny. Some have said aliens visit the planet because of that problem, so they go on intergalactic booty runs here.
The only problem is people who think sex is going virtual and two people can cyber with devices and that's going to somehow be like the real thing. People who try are going to get what they deserve, a buzzing rubber hand doing their thing.
Genetically, we're maybe 5 million years away from a problem or a change. Until then we'll be in the same boat.
@Hello_Newman: Procreation will be a problem, but not in the way you think. In the future we will have to slow down procreation, almost bring it to a stop. Because there is only so much room on this planet for people. And with new medicine allowing people to live for much, much longer. If not as long as they like, healthily. It's going to accelerate the need to put a cap on births.
@Hello_Newman: You should seek the meaning for the term "transhumanism" before making that kind of comments. The whole point of transhumanist philosophy is that biological evolution is far too slow and unreliable to be trusted with our further development, and needs to be accelerated with nanoscopic cybernetics and optional genetic manipulation. If the transhuman visions come true, in only few centuries we all have passed the need for genes entirely, having transferred our consciousness to more durable shells that don't suffer from such biological issues as ageing.
Will we have sex then? Why not? I suspect that we'll be doing everything imaginable with our sensory perception and more.
@Lightice: I doubt the durable shell thing will ever come to pass. Because aging isn't something that has to happen to biological creatures. It's merely what currently happens to most.
We will be able to, and are getting quite close to being able to stop age related decay from occurring. It's just a matter of making our self repair systems work properly, replacing dead cells with new ones and keeping DNA from degrading.
@Kakkoii: The problem is that this makes us vulnerable to various forms of cancer, and limits our ability to develop. Immortality as we are just isn't a goal worth having. That's just eternal stagnation, and in practice probably leads to eventual suicide.
There's two options in this world for species, and the goal of transhumanism is to bring them to individuals as well: evolve or die out. As long as we evolve, gain new abilities, new possibilities, life has a meaning for us. But if we stop changing, we'll just get hopelessly bored.
@fxsoap: Oh, we'll get many of these abilities in this century, if the predictions are correct. But humanity as a whole probably won't be a collection of immortal superminds before a few centuries have passed.
@Lightice: Uhh no. The result of perfecting our self repair systems would prevent cancer, not make us vulnerable to it lol. And one would think by this time we would have the technology to prevent cancer anyways.
And I didn't say anything about not improving on ourselves. Just not replacing ourselves with non organic materials completely. Maybe an arm, or a leg or heart. But the brain and skin should stay organic, but still improved on through genetic tinkering.
I think that it'll be much different than any sort of sex we'd recognize. We'll probably just wire our brains in, set phasers to orgasm and never ever get any work done. It'll only be the geezers having it the old fashioned way, but that's only if those damn kids would get off my virtual lawn.
@Mikey-B: You mean the proceeds from this could have funded the team in the documentary-style re-imagining of the Bad News Bears, & the vendor still didn't sell?
And for clarification's sake, these denigrations are not in reference to Ms. Hazell, but are in regards to the statements of Ms. Lux, the Fleshbot staff, and the other commenters on this page who seem so willing to disparage the reputation and status of one who has previously been practically sanctified by this very site, simply because she has allegedly expressed a pro- public modesty opinion with which certain individuals do not agree.
I find it quite amusing that after spending years racking up thousands upon thousands of web page views (and, I would imagine, advertising dollars) derived from linking to nude pictures, videos and interviews of Keeley, Fleshbot is suddenly willing to strip her of her well-deserved Crush Object status (or retire her/put her on notice) because she (may have) expressed a personally held opinion that she is not a big fan of walking around in public with her tits out.
I think it's quite ridiculous for anybody here to complain about Keeley's (alleged) preference to keep her top on in public and her recommendation of the same for other beach-going women.
For one, Keeley has freely displayed her assets on countless occasions to the great pleasure of others; and has obviously been more willing to share her beauteousness than every other non- porn-performing editor, writer, and commenter on this site put together.
Secondly, I find it quite rich for an American website to be complaining that fewer women are willing to go top-free on public beaches, considering that the United States is one of the least nude-friendly nations in the Western hemisphere, and that the number of American nude beaches pales in comparison to the quantity in Europe, (and that's after taking into account the enormous population, land mass, and coastal territory of the U.S.A. in comparison to the countries across the Atlantic).
Finally, it is rather saddening to realize that freedom of speech and conscience are apparently not welcome without the threat of censure here, even though this is a pornographic site purportedly centered on progressiveness, tolerance, and the breaking of established boundaries. I guess I had the wrong idea about this place, since it appears that second-hand, uncorroborated hearsay regarding an individual's alleged comments in a tabloid journal is enough to sink a person's reputation around here.
@Prof_Derzshowitz: And now it's time to give my opinion, since I hadn't done it before.
If the comments are true (and a week later, we still don't know for sure that they are), then yes, she should be put on notice. And for me, this has nothing to do with the fact that she's stopped taking her clothes off for money. This is an issue that should be about choice. You should have the choice of whether you want to sunbathe topless or not. No one, not even Keeley Hazell, should be able to tell you that you shouldn't do it. You come out with a stance that is against the choice of displaying your body in a perfectly normal way in public, you get put on notice.
And the comments on American morality? The type of people who write for (and more than likely comment on) this website are exactly the people that would probably want to change those very things you brought up. But, obviously, we don't have the power to do so.
And I know The Sun is a tabloid and all, but "second-hand, uncorroborated hearsay regarding an individual's alleged comments in a tabloid journal"? If you really believe all of that, go find the article.

@hodayathink is running for president of Naughty... : Bonjour, Monsieur Hodaya. Thank you for responding to my tirade, and for presenting some very solid defensive arguments in response to my earlier statements.
Because I totally love you and your opinions (in the least homoerotic fashion acceptable on a duo-sexual website such as this), I will respond to your comments as soon as I am physically and mentally able to put together a logical argument, once I've recovered from the pile of Robax Platinum that I have just downed with a fifth of Glenmorangie and a fifth of Jameson, consumed whilst watching Depp-narrated doc on Hunter S. T.
It's too bad we don't have our own Fleshbot forum to discuss the issues that have been brought up by the postings on the site, but I'm sure we'll figure out a way to continue the conversation later on.
wal... I think I need to see exactly what she said, considering the source and the fact that the link provided(at least on the surface) did not provide that.Who knows, maybe she was quoted out of context. But in general, I say she has earned a right to have her opinion considered when it comes to nudity.
and seriously, I am to busy looking at that pic of her tits to find the quote. Isn't that enough?
