Regular readers of Fleshbot know that there's been no shortage over the years of fancy photographer types who have set up their camera on the edge of a porn site to record their impressions of what making a dirty movie is "really" like, and although some of their efforts have turned out better than others most of the results are generally pretty much the same. Not so with the work of Dennis McGrath, however, who has recorded the on-set goings-on during various Porn Valley productions over the past several years. Even if no less an eminent authority as Fleshbot Crush Object Kimberly Kane Herself didn't call it "the most realistic look at what it’s like to be on a porn set in the valley I’ve ever seen," McGrath's photos are noteworthy for the way they seamlessly blend the workaday aspects of the skin trade with those occasional moments of sheer, unadulterated hotness that make all that tedium and standing around worthwhile.

Directing Porn: A Pithy View

DCypher reports: Life isn't always fair, especially for certain drop dead gorgeous and sexually awakened babes looking to change the system and build the kind of life they've been told they deserve by cable television. (Damn you cable television!) So when the pressure gets to be too much and it all comes tumbling down, what's a girl to do?

YouTube Gets Kicked In The Ass

It seems curious that a porn company known for its commitment to things like ten man cum slams and five guy cream pies would be turning to a squeaky-clean arena like YouTube to peddle its wares—but that's exactly what Kick Ass Pictures has done with the official launch of its PG-13 promo video channel. (Then again, they're not exactly strangers to this whole mainstream publicity thing; this is, after all, the same studio that made their former contract star Mary Carey a household name everywhere from Peoria to Petaluma with her gubernatorial bid a couple of years ago.) But is YouTube's community standards team ready to have hot porn babes like Sasha Grey, Alexis Love, and Paige Taylor share bandwith with all those political campaign clips and Beyoncé tributes while they're parading around in skimpy outfits and smoking weed on a porn set? We can't wait to tune in every week to find out.

We always knew the delightful Ashley Blue was one of the nastiest gals in porn, but who knew she was one of the adult industry's most entertaining bloggers as well? While the online journals of many her colleagues tend to focus on things like on-the-set reports and press releases about upcoming strip club appearances, Ashley takes a rather more down-to-earth approach towards expressing what the life of a porn star is really like and shares some very intimate photographic moments featuring her pets and her husband (superstar erotic photographer Dave Naz). Oh, and because she's Ashley Blue, there's also the occasional shot of her blowing semen bubbles and closeups of her butthole. Hey, she doesn't call herself an attention whore for nothing, you know.

It can't be easy being an executive at Titan Media these days: once you've shocked porn audiences with the depths of sexual depravity in titles like "Cirque Noir" and "Folsom Filth", what can you possibly come up with to outdo yourself? Well, the upcoming "Fear" looks like a doozy, what with all that extreme bondage and gut punching and water torture and ball biting and that spooky promo photo of Francois Sagat trussed up like a Thanksgiving turkey in the Marquis de Sade's kitchen. But Titan may have done the scariest thing of all casting real-life couple Derek Da Silva and Tony Buff in the movie: not only are they adept at all of the nasty things listed above, they're also (gasp) a nonmonogamous pair who live in different cities and who each have other boyfriends on the side. If that doesn't épater les gays bourgeois, we don't know what will.

Director Jim Powers narrates this collection of behind-the-scenes and cutting room floor footage with the gallows humor we have come to expect from JM Productions. People who think the porn industry is cynical and cruel will not be convinced otherwise by this movie, in which no one emerges looking glamorous. In fact, the only lesson to be learned from this movie is that things that might leave the rest of us feeling humiliated are answered with a universal "Whatever" by the performers and crew.

We don't know why it just occurred to us now, but judging from the neverending flow of nudes through our sketchy broadband connection, it would be easy to believe that everyone in the world has at this point become naked for a webcam at some point, if not twice. We begin this week's Popshots installment with Eva Angelina and Marco Banderas, as the two filmed a scene for his upcoming website. What do you think is going to happen next?

Real military porn might be getting more hazardous to make these days, but we can always count on the pros to cobble together a bunch of old camos and dog tags and crank out a production that at least fulfills our fantasies involving ... uh, a bunch of porn stars wearing old camos and dog tags. But even if it's not the real deal, Raging Stallion's upcoming "Grunt" at least gives us a chance to wonder what it would be like to go through some not-so-basic training with crush objects Jake Deckard, Steve Cruz, and Roman Ragazzi, minus the risk of getting gunpowder stains or rifle grease all over ourselves. Not to mention slapped with one of those pesky court martials.

The sexy music video theme is a well-loved one here on Fleshbot, but we thought it might be nice to share a clip that dials down the bumping and grinding (and even the music) while keeping the sex front and center. Indie rock darlings Rilo Kiley are back with a soon-to-be-released album and have already rolled out the video for their first single, The Moneymaker, even though the band and the song don't appear until about two-thirds of the way through. The first eight minutes or so consist of interviews with pornstars including Hailey Young, Satine Phoenix, Tommy Gunn and others, talking about their moneymakers and what it's like to be a professional sex-haver. Eventually, Jenny Lewis shows up to vamp her way through the new song—but the candid talk and largely porn-positive point of view is pretty interesting in its own right. And thankfully, no one gets strummed like a bass guitar either.
