Naked people! We're not sure how this proves that "their extinction is ours as well," but, um...naked people!

We normally wouldn't say this, but, well, isn't this one case where violence might be a more appropriate sales tool than sex? We are talking about extinction here, people. And that naked lady sure don't look extinct to us.

<![CDATA[Joanna Krupa's An Angel To Us (And Animals)]]> If you're old like us, there's a chance you remember a time when PETA actually tried to tie its models' nudity into its message ("I'd rather go naked than wear fur," anyone?).

These days, however, it seems that nudity on behalf of PETA is a given—regardless of the associated copy. Like with this ad featuring Joanna Krupa. Since when are angels naked? Not that we're complaining, mind you (we're definitely not complaining)...but it would be nice to think that the nudity here wasn't purely gratuitous.

Oh, who are we kidding. We'll take any nudity, any time, anywhere. Thanks PETA!

<![CDATA[Keeley Hazell Returns To The Lad Mag Circuit]]> Apparently Keeley "Not A Topless Model Anymore" Hazell does still model topless—provided it's in the name of animal welfare. In addition to her aforementioned PETA ad, Keeley's got a PETA-themed spread in an upcoming issue of Loaded.

Interestingly, Keeley isn't above having standard lad mag copy in her "for the animals" topless spread—though we're sure all those poor tortured animals were dying to know her cup size, and whether she'd like her breasts a bit bigger.

Well, as long as it's for the animals we get to see Keeley's rack, right?

<![CDATA[Half-Naked Supermodels Band Together To Fight Global Issue]]> Taking a page out of PETA's playbook, anti-global warming group 350.org has decided that the best way to get people to care about climate change is to get a bunch of supermodels to take off their clothes.

Although...well, maybe it's just us, but isn't the strategy a wee bit counterintuitive? After all, if the earth's temperature starts to rise, won't that be what leads supermodels to run around naked—and not the other way around? Not that we're for climate change or anything...but, uh, maybe there are some battles that can be fought without nudity.

Wait, did we really just say that? Scratch that last comment—all this climate change has just made us dizzy. Keep taking off your clothing ladies. Keep on keeping on.

<![CDATA[Too Hot For YouTube: Save The Boobs!]]> YouTube's long been known for its unfriendliness to porn trailers and vaguely suggestive videos—but now they've gone too far. The latest casualty in YouTube's war against sexy? A bouncy, breastacular, slow-mo bikini video...that raises awareness about breast cancer.

Yes, it's true, the video does feel like some 80's teensploitation pool flick (well, except for the lack of any nipple)—but come on, it's to raise awareness for breast cancer. And there are no nipples!

If the children of the world need to be protected from something this softcore, well, we don't want to see what they're like when they grow up.

<![CDATA[Canadian Celebrities Get Their Kit Off For Charity]]> Finally: celebrities are taking their tops off for a cause that's actually breast-related. Not that we, er, minded seeing all those naked PETA ads—but seeing Karine Vanasse (and others) go topless for breast cancer research just feels...more justified.

Cause at least in this case those naked breasts are actually inspiring us to fight for the rights of breasts for funding to keep them healthy, instead of just, um, confusing us and making us horny (though, again, not that we mind that or anything).

<![CDATA[Kim Zolciak Poses "Topless" For Some Sort Of Charity]]> Apparently real housewife Kim Zolciak took our advice to heart. In her pursuit of 15 more minutes of fame, she's dispensed with the bikini pics and shot all the way to implied nudity. For a charity, of course (she's classy!).

But what charity, exactly? Based on the photo alone, we were assuming the "NO H8" referred to some sort of free speech-related organization (anyone else notice the resemblance to that "Declare Yourself" campaign?). But, uh, no. Kim is naked and bound in support of gay marriage (or, more specifically, against Proposition 8).

We're just going to let you process that one for a minute.

Trust us, the last twenty-two seconds...well, they're a lot less pleasant than that first thirty-eight.

We can only hope PETA doesn't take inspiration from this ad spot. We like activist advertising so much better when it's all sex and no violence, you know?

<![CDATA[PETA Wants You To See Your Neighbors Naked]]> We used to think that PETA's sole mission was to get celebrities the world over to get naked in the name of animal welfare. But it seems that's not all there is to PETA.

No, PETA is also interested in getting ordinary people to get sexied up, too; as evidenced by their latest publicity stunt: a "Sexiest Vegetarian Next Door" contest. You—yes, you—have the chance to vote for your favoritest sexy vegetarians, who will face off against one another in a four round, bracket-style competition, until only two champions (one male, one female) remain.

We had our doubts about the whole thing, but after looking through the contestants, we have to say that there are a few lookers in the mix—and, even better, more than a few who aren't afraid to show a little skin. Think there's any chance that they'll shed more garments as they advance through the rounds? Come on, it'd be good for PETA's image.

<![CDATA[Too Hot For The Superbowl: PETA's Banned Ad]]> PETA's known for pushing boundaries, what with their radical vegetarian views and edgy use of naked women, but we never thought we'd see them make an ad hot enough to get banned from the Superbowl.

And yet they have: "Veggie Love"—and ad celebrating the joys of vegetarian sex—was deemed far too lascivious for primetime. Specifically, NBC objected to the following shots:

- licking pumpkin
- touching her breast with her hand while eating broccoli
- pumpkin from behind between legs
- rubbing pelvic region with pumpkin
- screwing herself with broccoli (fuzzy)
- asparagus on her lap appearing as if it is ready to be inserted into vagina
- licking eggplant
- rubbing asparagus on breast

Well, someone was paying close attention to that ad....

<![CDATA[Kim Cattrall, Half Naked Art Activist]]> You don't have to have a topless calendar (or pose for PETA) to get involved in naked activism—all you need is a camera, a cause, and you, naked! Just ask Kim Cattrall, who bared some to help raise money to save Titian's painting Diana and Actaeon (or at least keep it on display in London). Of course, the problem with naked activism is that, well, the emphasis tends to be more on the naked than on the activism—though we're sure Ms. Cattrall's efforts to increase art awareness haven't totally been lost on the readers of Hollywood Tuna. <![CDATA[The Adipositivity Project: Because Big Is Beautiful]]> We've long held that the best way to create positive feelings about something is to get people to associate it with something they already feel positively about. Like, you know, nudity (who doesn't like nudity?). So in that regard, the Adipositivity Project makes perfect sense to us. What better way to fight for size acceptance than by showing the world some hot, sexy plus size bodies? Okay, maybe you could get some kind of mind control ray and force the world to be more accepting of all different kinds of beautiful bodies... but failing that, we think hot sexy fat nudity is a pretty good option.

<![CDATA[All About Aprella, Renaissance Woman]]> We've had a crush on the lovely Aprella for several years now. But what with her busy schedule of modeling, performing, appearing in video games, and speaking out for Amnesty International, and our busy schedule of, uh, watching porn, it's been a little hard to schedule a sitdown with her. Finally, though, after years of lusting after this multitalented powerhouse, we were able to grab her attention and get her to answer some questions. Our interview—as well as a gallery of photos so you can better understand exactly why we've been crushing on her all this time—after the jump.

* * * * *

Fleshbot: Back in 2005 we named you one of our Top Ten Hotties of the year. Has your life changed much in the years since we honored you—and if so, what's changed?
Aprella: Yes you did, and I'd like to take the time here to say "Thank You!"

My life is always changing and evolving. In the past three years I've worked all over the world from doing runway shows in France and screaming backup vocals in Italy to doing Fashion Week in LA and swinging high on aerial swing in my home town NYC. I like to keep my career and life moving. In 2007 I worked at least one week of every month out of the country. I love life on the go.

2008_06_01_aprella2.jpg
FB: You've been an artist's model, a nude model, a dancer, a singer, an actress, an activist, and probably even more things that we forgot to list. How do you make time for it all?
A: I just follow my heart and try to make the best choices I can for myself. Unfortunately I don't get enough sleep. The usual is 4 hrs or less a night.

FB: Where did you get your start as a model? Did you start as photographer's model and branch out into other areas, or did you follow a different path?
A: I was always interested in the art of photography. While snooping about camera equipment one day a photographer asked to take a test shoot of me. He then turned it over to an agency and it turned out that I was a look they needed. I was then booked for fashion runway shows and fashion editorial shoots. As I got more involved I discovered the world of couture high fashion and have since been hooked.

FB: How did you decide to model nude? Is the experience of nude modeling substantially different from modeling with your clothes on?
A: I strive to create more artistic looks with my work. I wouldn't call myself a nude model having almost never done a fully nude shoot. When I have done fully nude I am almost always covered with body painting giving the illusion that I am clothed.

With my modelling work I'm trying to create images that cause an inspired reaction be they nude and covered in body paint or beautiful high fashion. If I look at a photo and see nudity before I see creativity it's a nothing photo for me. I'm far more turned on by art clothed or not.

2008_06_01_aprella3.jpg
FB: Do you have any favorite stories from your years of modeling? Any photographers you love working with?
A: One of the funniest moments I've had as a model has to be when I was working with Gene Simmons of Kiss fame. Gene and I were in Times Square on top of The Hard Rock Café to do press for his show "Gene Simmons and The Family Jewels" Gene out of nowhere took my hand and made me grab his ass while he looked all coy with his finger over his lips for the cameras. Then the next day it was all over the celebrity gossip television show "EXTRA."

Every photo shoot and runway show carries its bag of fun memories for me. I love the people I work with and I have to mention one of my best friends, photographer River Clark as being my favorite person to do a photo shoot with.

FB: If you had to choose just one of the many areas you work in to focus on, what would it be?
A: I really wish I could pick just one thing to focus on. I'm always so jealous of those that have that one thing they love to do and they stick to it. Like my partner David Stoupakis. He's good at everything he attempts in the art world but he's known since he was a kid that he wants to be a painter and that's what he focuses on every day. For me it's just not that easy; in fact I'd say it's impossible for me to pick one area to focus on. So I guess I just focus on following my heart for a living.

FB: Do you have any upcoming projects Fleshbot readers should know about?
A: Zillions! I'll be home in NYC this Summer doing art sittings for Dr. Sketchy's and Runway shows with some local NYC lines. This autumn I'll be back on the road and am doing a ton of touring all around the world in 2008. You can keep up with me via my Events Calendar at aprella.com. See you guys soon!
