Back in the heyday of 2006, there was a period when major porn studios (see also: endangered species) took full advantage of the influx of hungry “directors” scrambling for work and undercutting each other’s rates in order to get a foot in the door. Seemingly overnight, a torrent of performer-turned-directors emerged, all emulating Jules or Buttman or Robbie D, and all intent on owning their own product and turning a quick profit. The results were predictably tragic.
