The 2006 election season is heating up with congressional, Senate and governor's races kicking into high gear, but we wanted to give you an update on the two pornstars—that we know of—who are seeking higher office. First, we're sad to report that despite (or maybe because of?) our endorsement, Melody "Mimi Miyagi" Damayo lost in the Republican primary on Tuesday, ending her bid to become the governor of Nevada. Based on the interviews we've seen, she's seems like a pretty smart cookie, so hopefully her civil service days aren't over for good. (There's rumors of a bid for mayor of Las Vegas.) Meanwhile, a little further to the west, Mary Carey continues her quixotic quest to unseat the Governator in California. The campaign ran into a snag when she only collected 40 of the 164,000 signatures needed to get her name on the ballot, but feel free to write her in come November. We won't comment on her prospects, but don't order those "Carey/Lieberman '08" bumper stickers just yet.
