Here’s something I grapple with on occasion: if the nude form is in-and-of-itself most perfect and beautiful, then why the need to gussy it up with ahtsy-fahtsy symbolism, abstract representation, deconstructionism and the likes? Should we not live to the fullest and cut straight to the t&a as it were? Why all the obfuscation? Then again, if Mexican photographer Arturo Pizá’s striking images of disembodied snatches and snarling bat girls open a window for us to glimpse the stuff of life from a new perspective, then why not take a little peek?
