    Alabama Sex Toy Ban Update

    2006_07_29_alabama.jpg

Despite the fact that CNN saw fit to file this story about the Supreme Court's refusal to hear an appeal by defendants in the Alabama sex toy ban case under their "funny" category today, recent developments in the back-and-forth saga are no laughing matter: as beleaguered adult products retailer Sherri Williams told AVN, "A lot of people still believe that this case is only about overturning the sex-toy law in Alabama, but it's not ... What it is really all about is, we have been fighting to prove that the Constitution provides a right to sexual privacy." Think about that the next time you're tempted to chuckle over the mental image of Sandra Day O'Connor and Ruth Bader Ginsberg comparing notes about their rubber duckie vibes during a trial recess.
