The news doesn't seem to be online yet (at least nowhere we could find during an exhaustive thirty seconds of research, though we're sure the New York Times is preparing an above-the fold breaking story feature as we speak), but we've heard from a couple of sources via our inbox this morning that babelog favorite Heather Vandeven will be crowned the 2007 Penthouse Pet of the Year on the eve of the Super Bowl this coming weekend. If it's true, Heather will have beat out such formidable competion as fellow pornstresses Shay Laren and Charlie Laine to snag the coveted title, which Penthouse reminds us isn't merely awarded on the basis of possessing a nice set of boobs: "The Pet of the Year has numerous duties to perform, such as personal appearances and promotional radio and television events, so we must take into consideration other factors beyond popularity." Whether Heather will be able to jiggle (er, juggle) her new responsibilities with her status as NinnWorx' latest contract star (for which she was rechristened Heather Vuur for reasons unclear to everyone except director Michael Ninn) remains to be seen. (And if it turns out the news was just a cruel hoax perpetrated on us by a secret cabal of Vandeven partisans out there? Well, at least we had the opportunity to remind you about her other qualifications as a candidate one last time.)
