I know that every character an artist invents isn't necessarily an extension of the artist himself; art isn’t all about couched desires. But with visual erotica it’s sometimes difficult to believe that at least some of the work I see could be anything but an obsessively personal erotic vision played out on paper—especially when it's Japanese hentai art, with its manic attention to detail and fetishistic coherency of style and symbolism. So I wonder: how does this apply to flesh-and-blood sexual experience? How does one develop such an elaborate vision and not be consumed by it? For Toru Nishimaki, this would involve a world full of teddy bears and thigh-high boots, pigtails and anamorphic genitalia ... and doesn't that start to make you really wonder?A. Tolesco
