Poor readers of the NY Times, in the article linked by Gawker, only know that an "outrageous" sculpture by the artist called "Mr. Lonesome Cowboy" was sold. No other description is given as it is for the other works auctioned that evening. . .

And NOW I see from Gawker's comment thread that this was displayed at the Brooklyn Museum where it could be viewed by CHILDREN, with none of the usual outcry? Where's Giuliani when you need him?

i saw this exhibit in LA last fall and i won't forget the look on this kid's face looking at the statue. he had this look of total awe and curiousity.

that soon ended when his father told him to stop looking at it and dragged him towards the companion piece, the one with the big boobies. no sooner than dad's eyes looked away, that the kid slowly turned and began to stare at the cowboy again.
