The chief censor of Nihon Ethics of Video Association—i.e., the person who adds all those annoying pixels to Japanese porn movies—has been arrested by the government, and not apparently for ruining a generation's worth of good porn, but because he wasn't blocking enough of the good stuff. Talk about backwards priorities. (variety.com)

  • I don't think I'll ever understand how the image of a vulva or penis is somehow more "worthy of censor" in Japanese pornography than the depiction of a woman being super-soaked with gallons of semen, or being raped by multi-tentacled octopi.

But then again, I guess a little bukkake never hurt anyone, [unless it gets in your eyes, I imagine that would smart a bit...],

...and I figure that as long as Japan continues to push technology forward for the rest of the world, someone over here will eventually devise a simple means of digitally removing those damnable mosaics.

  • @Prof_Derzshowitz:

Blame MacArthur. It's a post-war censorship holdover that for some reason the gov't insists on enforcing.

  • @ Airport_Whiskey

Ha. I knew there would be some way to link this back to the Communist Witch-hunts of yester-year.

    Thanks for the heads-up.

PS: I wonder how much better that 500 person orgy video would have been without all those pixels.

Maybe next time, once the laws have been updated, they'll just have to hold an even bigger one.

I'm sure the hard-working Japanese will be up for it.

    - Cheers.
